The Neighborhood of Clairemont San Diego is often called Clairemont Mesa. This is because it sits atop a large flat hilltop. The eastern edge of this community is the 805 freeway, and the Eastern the 5 freeway. Additionally Interstate 8 can be reached to the south, so there are few places in San Diego which cannot be easily reached from Clairemont. Perhaps this is why many people who commute for work choose to live in this quiet neighborhood. Many also find jobs within Clairemont although most of the area is occupied by homes and apartments. Although it’s only a short drive to Downtown San Diego, don’t expect any high-rise apartment buildings. Apartments in this neighborhood tend to be small and friendly like the streets lined with single family homes.
The western edge of Clairemont is greeted by a beautiful panoramic view of Mission Bay and coastal beaches. For those who enjoy visiting the coast from La Jolla to Mission Beach Clairemont may be the ideal place to live. It is not uncommon, in fact, to see ocean fishing boats parked along neighborhood streets in Clairemont. During the busy summer months Clairemont does not receive the traffic and congestion of places like Pacific Beach, yet it is only a short drive away. A medium sized shopping center with a movie theater is where many Clairemont Residents head for fun on a friday night. Tecolote Canyon Natural Park is great news for those who like to go for walks! This park divides the western and eastern segments of Clairemont Mesa. Here you will find a plethora of hiking biking and walking trails, perfect for a leisurely stroll or a sustained workout. Tecolote Park is a wonderful pocket of peaceful nature right in the middle of Clairemont’s neighborhoods! In North Clairemont you will find another park called Rose Canyon Open Space which also has a great bike path. Rose Canyon Open Space is very close to the small community of Bay Ho.
Bay Ho is a Neighborhood in the northwestern corner of Clairemont, near University City and La Jolla. In a similar fashion to the South East is the Linda Vista Neighborhood.
